FALL

Dear *|FNAME|*,

As we transition into a new season, we would like to invite you to look at our seasonal offerings. We have some beautiful wreaths as well as holiday decorations available in order to spruce up the garden this winter.

Winter is a great time to add mulch to your garden, and we are scheduling visits in January. Mulching the garden with rich compost, fish or leaf mulch, helps nourish the soil, protects it from the heavy rains, compaction and erosion, as well as shelter microorganisms.

Order Your Winter Decor!

Order your holiday wreaths and winter arrangements before the end of the month, for delivery the first week of December! Order your wreath here or email us below. Wreaths are 12 inches across and cost between $85-$125 depending on complexity and details. Let us know if you would like us to use your planters for the arrangements. They can be custom made upon request!

We can also install your Christmas lights!

LAST CHANCE FOR BULBS!

Last chance to plant bulbs this month, contact us for more details!

Winter projects

We are currently booking mulching and fruit tree pruning in January and February. Email us to schedule either service for your garden or orchard!

Select the best mulch for your garden beds' soil:
  • Leaf mulch: ideal to protect soil from heavy rains, compaction and runoff; enriches soil with carbon as leaves decompose
  • Compost: a heavier and denser compost, rich in carbon and nitrogen
  • Fish mulch: a mixture of fish and bark mulch, ideal for weed suppression; recommended for depleted soils as it provides maximum nourishment

Winter Interest in the garden

Plant highlight
Cornus stolonifera, or red-osier dogwood, is a beautiful BC native species extending throughout most of northern and western North America.

Red-osier dogwood is one of my favorite winter interest plants grown for its striking red twigs. This is a great plant for restoration projects when you want to stabilize sloped streambank and steep garden beds. I also like to plant it in Rain Gardens and around water retention swales as it can be waterlogged during the winter months. In the spring, its delicate white flowers are visited by pollinators, followed by white berries in the Fall visited by the birds.

In our region, we also have the Pacific Dogwood tree, and a groundcover, Bunchberry, Cornus canadensis.
